The SSI Open Water Diver course is the world’s leading beginner scuba certification, designed to teach new divers the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to dive safely. Through a blend of digital learning, confined water training, and four open water dives, students learn buoyancy control, underwater communication, equipment handling, and emergency procedures.
Upon certification, divers can explore the underwater world independently with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet). The certification is recognized worldwide, valid for life, and serves as the foundation for all advanced diving courses.
All courses include e-learning access, digital certification, and use of diving equipment unless stated otherwise.
